一、含义不同

1、hope指对愿望实现有一定信心的希望，多指可以达到的事。

2、wish通常用于难以实现或达到的事，也可表示祈愿。

二、句子结构不同

1、hope后不能直接跟名词作宾语，可跟for ＋名词，表示可实现的“希望”。

例句

I hope you can help me with my math.

翻译：我希望你能帮我学数学。

Everyone hopes for success.（hope+for短语）

翻译：每个人都希望成功。

2、wish虽也跟for ＋名词，但表示难实现的“愿望”。

例句

1. I wish I could be a cat.

我希望我能变成一只猫。（不可能实现的事情）

I wish I could have met you as a child.

我要是能遇到小时候的你就好了。（不可能实现的事情）

Wish for the person all the blessings of life.

你应该祈求那个人获得生命中的所有恩赐。

三、从句使用不同

1、hope和wish可跟that从句，但hope ＋ that表示希望 。

例句

There is some hope that things will improve.

情况好转还是有希望的。

I hope that we haven't inconvenienced you. 我希望我们没有给你添麻烦。

2、wish ＋ that表示“愿望”，且从句动词用虚拟语气。

例句

I wish that dog would stop barking.

我希望那只狗别叫了。

It was his express wish that you should have his gold watch after he died.

他明确表示死后把金表留给你。
